(2 Minute Read) — October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, so I wanted to provide a timely reminder that safeguarding our digital world is our shared responsibility.

However, the most effective defense starts with you. Here are a few steps you can take to protect yourself: 

Strengthen Your Passwords 

Use unique, complex passwords and change them regularly. Consider using a password manager to keep track of them securely. 

Beware of Phishing 

Be cautious of unsolicited emails, texts, or phone calls that ask for personal information. Unitus will never request sensitive information this way. 

Enable Alerts  

Sign up for account alerts in digital banking to monitor transactions and be notified of any unusual activity. 

Keep Software Updated 

Ensure your devices and apps are always up to date to protect against vulnerabilities.
