We are quickly approaching July 24, the day our seven founding members created our credit union 80 years ago.
Thank you, our members and communities, for coming together to build this financial cooperative around people helping people. Your continuous belief in the power of partnership, transparency, service and generosity have supported us through these years.
We are truly stronger together. This summer, please allow us to give back to you, the members and communities who have made this special day possible!
It has been delightful to see how our members have grown along with us these past 80 years. With all of the joys, challenges and triumphs we have experienced together over these years, some members have especially moved us with their remarkable stories.
1969…only 25 years old. Working for Pacific Northwest Bell, a single mom without a clue about how to handle money… Back then it was [Oregon] TelCo. They have always been there for me. In 1971, we became “us.” 1973 brought another child. In 1982, we began the process of adopting 5 siblings, ages 8 mos to 15 years, so [Oregon] TelCo helped us buy our first home. Our family grew too when my husband’s son from his first marriage joined us. Through proms, graduations, weddings, grandkids, several more houses, right through to now, 47 years later, Unitus has been there for us. We feel like they are part of our family… They never let us down, the friendly helpful voice on the other end of the line, or smiling from across the desk, we know we can count on Unitus!
Thank you Karen for sharing your story as a #Unitus80 Facebook submission. It has been our solemn honor and privilege to help you reach your personal successes and milestones. We are thankful for your kind words and want you to know the feeling is mutual – to us, you will always be part of our family and we couldn’t be more grateful to continue serving you and your family into the future.
