Unitus Kicks Off Their Fifteenth Holiday Drive, Annual Month-Long Fundraiser To Help People In Need

Portland, Ore., November 16, 2017 – Unitus Community Credit Union has launched their fifteenth annual Holiday Drive, a month-long effort to raise donations for community members in need throughout Salem, Vancouver, and the Portland Metro area.

As in past years, Unitus employees have assembled into five teams determined to gather donations for Unitus community partners.

Between November 13 and December 9, employees will organize and contribute to numerous fundraisers including bake sales, craft sales, auctions, “candygrams,” and other activities with festive themes.

Donated items include winter clothes, warm blankets, personal hygiene items and toys for kids.

To maximize their positive impact on the community, Unitus works with community partners throughout the drive to ensure they gather the most-needed items.

“Giving back to our community members is the reason we started this credit union 80 years ago.”

In mid-December, Unitus employees will deliver the items to their community partners. The donations will include personalized gift boxes created by Unitus employees.

For an extra touch of warmth, the boxes are adorned with gift wrap, tissue paper and personal hand-written notes to help make someone’s day this holiday season.

“Giving back to our community members is the reason we started this credit union 80 years ago,” said Aimee Berg, Community Development Officer at Unitus and Holiday Drive coordinator.

“We created the Holiday Drive to be a win-win: Unitus employees work together to support those organizations vital to our communities, and our employees love the opportunity to use their hidden talents for a great cause! We collect thousands of donations each year, and we can’t wait to see how many we can deliver this year!”
